Athlete-founded and athlete-trusted since 1976, our team here at Boathouse has been based in Philadelphia from the very beginning. In fact, our locally owned and operated facility is located just blocks away from Temple University, where we’ve been the go-to supplier for team apparel for decades. It’s a heritage we wear proudly. But we’re not the only ones.

Local skate legend Jimmy Gorecki and his affiliated brands JSP and Standard Issue have Philly and Temple University woven into their identity. For our team here at Boathouse, Philly has been our home base since we began in 1976. And from the moment we opened our local factory, we’ve had a very distinguished neighbor: Temple University. Our commitment to handcrafted quality with custom designs for athletes across all sports soon led to a lasting partnership with Temple. Today, we’re the university’s go-to partner for athletic apparel.

JSP and Standard Issue: Blending Skate and Athletic Styles in the City of Brotherly Love

For Philadelphia local and legendary skateboarder Jimmy Gorecki, Philly is simply home. While technically hailing from Norristown, Jimmy soon found himself skating through all of Philadelphia’s urban hotspots. Particularly special among those for Jimmy and his skate crew was Temple University. He hails Broad St., Cecil B. Moore Ave., and the campus as a whole as “spots generations of us could strive and prosper on.”

Jimmy’s since channeled that love for Philly, Temple, and skating into his brand JSP, which soon got its own collection from the apparel brand Standard Issue. It’s worth mentioning that “JSP” is short for “Jimmy Sweatpants,” which was the nickname Jimmy got for always skating in sweats. It was a move, and moniker, that turned out to define his genre-bending skate style—which melds perfectly with Standard Issue’s thoughtful athleisure.

Together, JSP, Standard Issue, and Boathouse make the perfect partners for a Philly-focused partnership dedicated to Temple University.
